Setting up classroom Mise En Place is a time not too far from us!
Starting culinary arts with a mise en place lesson is a great way to start the year because it is easily referred to throughout the year for set up and life in general. It not only applies to the kitchen but to life and being prepared each day.
A nice tie in to real life is pointing out to students that when they go to Chipotle and Subway they can see all the ingredients prepped and ready to go!
Planning Things Out
When planning out the first few weeks of school I always map it out on a unit plan sheet. Even though plans change and I have to be flexible, I love having that rough draft of what I am going to do.
Taking Notes
Taking notes on unit plans is a good idea, you can look at the notes the following year when you take out last year's plan. It saves so much time to have it all written down even if it's a loose plan.
