How To Get to Know your High School Students

Updated: Jul 10, 2021

We love easing into the school year with some "getting to know you" activities. It takes the pressure off of us as the teacher during the first couple of days of school and helps us build relationships with the kids in our class.

Check out this free "The Spice of Your Life" activity. Students answer questions about themselves in a spice rack. It's a fun way to get them talking while staying within the culinary theme. I have them color their papers a bit and hang them around the room. I love doing things like this because I think it gives them a feeling of being a part of the classroom community!

Here is another fun activity where students write a "recipe of me" and include a picture of themselves. Another fun way to get to know the kids and possibly decorate your room a bit. If the students are brave we have them share their recipes with the class. It also includes a Google version in case it is easier to have students work on this digitally.

You can head to our Teachers Pay Teachers store Twins and Teaching by clicking on the image below to check it out!
