Teaching a Culture of the Week

My husband Chris and I have been working on culinary lesson plans for students about foods in different cultures. We start the week out with the PowerPoint presentation and questions and then surround our cooking theme and techniques with the culture of the week! It is a nice way to fill a weeks worth of teaching while being culturally aware.

We taught the lesson on Mexican cuisine that includes history and then we made tacos al pastor!

We also had a Native American cuisine week. In the lesson the 3 sisters crops are discussed. Corns, beans and squash were staples of Native Americans before the arrival of Europeans. We made a 3 sisters salad after the lesson that week

Yummy 3 sisters salad!
